It's my favourite time of the month, where my Love Me Beauty box arrives, which is without a doubt my favourite beauty box subscription. This isn't any month of course, it's December which is usually the month where Beauty Box Brands really make an effort with their contents.. and Love Me Beauty is no exception. If you're not aware of Love Me Beauty, they're a really innovative subscription service where instead of receiving a box of surprise products (or perfume samples *cough cough* Glossybox) you get to choose what products you're going to receive from three menu's. The three menu's will all have a selection of products which are contained within all three menu's, as well as some different products so you can choose the menu which contains the products you'd most like to try. If the surprise element really is your thing.. they do a 'surprise box' where they'll send you exactly that.
If for whatever reason you weren't happy with any of the products on offer for that particular month.. you have the ability to 'skip' a month at absolutely no cost whatsoever - GENIUS! So there's never any risk of you receiving a box of items you'd never use or want.. all for the same price as the other brands - £10 plus P&P (£12.95*). You also have the ability to cancel anytime.. with no contracts involved. If you'd like to see what I received last month, take a look..
December's three menu's can be seen on the Love Me Beauty website, but all three contain makeup and skincare which I think is the perfect combination for a beauty box. I opted for menu one.. but all of three three menu's are extra special this month. Inside every box there is an additional surprise product inside them as well as offering a 20% discount code for beauty blog readers on their first box with the code: LMBBB20 which is valid from the 5th of December til 10th of Jan so a one off Love Me Beauty Box would make the perfect Christmas gift! Here's what I received as part of Menu One;
The first product is from Headline Colors, and is a full size nail polish in the shade Quicksand. I've received an Headline Colors nail polish before in a beauty box - the May Glossybox to be exact - which I didn't like as the shade wasn't really me. However Quicksand is a shade I love. It's a 'light chocolate nude' shade.. which almost looks purple in electric light. I'm a massive fan of greige, nude and neutral polishes so this is a very welcome addition to my collection. It applies beautifully, with no streakiness and each layer dries relatively quickly too.
Full Size Product worth £9
The next two products within December's box are from Lord & Berry who have featured within the Love Me Beauty boxes numerous times now. I'm not sure how I feel about that.. I've liked what I've tried from the brand bar October's Mishap however I'd love to be able sample a variety of brands, rather than have their products repeated month-on-month albeit different shades. First up we have a full size Lord & Berry Intensity Lipstick in the shade 'Glazed Pink'. Their Intensity Lipsticks contain Macadamia Oil and Waterlily extract to create intense, long lasting colour. Last month we received the very same lipstick but in the shade Brick which wasn't really a shade I'd wear however this is definitely a shade I love. In the bullet Glazed Pink looks like a lilac, pink shade without any shimmer. Although once swatched the colour translates a lot differently which you'll see further down.
Full Size Product worth £12
The second Lord & Berry product is their Kiss Proof Lip Liner in the shade Romantica. However I'm totally confused about the lipliner shade.. on the menu which I chose from, the shade was Romantica.. however on the menu enclosed within the box, it says that the shade is Seduction. The lipliner itself has Romantica on it, so I'll go with that but I can imagine this might confuse people?! Regardless of shade issues, I love these lipliners, they're incredibly long lasting and I'd even go as far to say that they're the most long-lasting lipliners I've tried. They have a creamy, matte formula which applies evenly and smoothing with little to no tugging of the lips. I much prefer a matte lipliner, as I like to sometimes wear them alone when I want a matte lip rather than using a matte lipstick. Romantica is an absolute beaut - a gorgeous neon pink, which is completely out of my comfort zone. There's no way that the lipliner would work with the lipstick within the box.. but they're both really lovely in their own right. I think these lipliners are so reasonable for their quality.. they really do last all day, and don't transfer whatsoever even when drinking.
One 'issue' is a recurring one, that the lead of the lipliner was sunk within the pencil again. This happened with the October box.. so I'm surprised it's happened again.
Full Size Product worth £7.50
Here are the swatches of both of the Lord & Berry products. The lipstick when swatched and on the lips is more of a pale nude shade than pink, but I really like it nonetheless. It has such a glossy, opaque finish which is akin to Lime Crime's Candyfuture Lipsticks and is just as comfortable to wear on the lips. I would possibly wear a pink gloss layered over Glazed Pink to 'pink' it up a little.. but I'll definitely get a lot of wear from the shade. The Romantica Lipliner is such a gorgeous shade, and I don't own anything like it. As I previously mentioned, it's a little brighter than I'd normally go.. but a milky nude lipgloss would work a treat at taming it slightly.
The first skincare product within the box is from the brand S5 who have appeared previously in a past box. This time it's a 15ml sample of their Vitality Mask which suits all skin types, and works to refine, illuminate and firm the skin as well as reducing the appearance of wrinkles, UV spots and skin imperfections. This was the product which made me choose menu 1 as it claims to reduce imperfections by 60% and pore size by 20% which is amazing.. so I'm going to ration this mask til New Year's Eve in the hope it'll give me perfect, party skin. However part of me hopes it doesn't wow me as it's very pricey.
15ml Sample worth £6.30 (Full Size 100ml £42)
The last product, and second skincare product within the box is from the huge skincare brand Rodial. I have tried a couple of their products, and really liked them so I was pleased to see them feature in this month's lineup. The product I got is a 10ml sample of the Rodial 5 Minute Facial which again would be perfect for my pre-party pamper for New Year's Eve. The mask is a fast acting mask which gives instant results. It's described as being a lifting and decongesting mask which targets age spots and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and reducing pore size. I just know I'm going to love this... I really love skincare products which give instant results, which you can turn to when your skin is need of a boost.
10ml Sample worth £7
Overall another winner from Love Me Beauty. I love all of the products within Menu One and will genuinely use them all. The box has a value of £41.80 which is pretty good going for a £12.95 box.. and if you use the 20% promo code mentioned above (first orders only) then you're in for even more of a fabulous saving. If you've never tried Love Me Beauty before, you really should.. I cannot recommend them enough, and every month the menu's are bound to have a selection of products which you like but if you don't as I said, you can just skip the month and maybe next month it'll be packed with products you'll love. I love receiving makeup, and good makeup at that in beauty boxes.. it's such a great way to try brands and shades, you'd not normally go for. I can't wait to see what 2014 holds for Love Me Beauty...
