I’ve only ever tried a few Avon products as I’ve been put off by pushy representatives, but now I know you can purchase their products online without having to use a representative it really makes me want to try more from the brand. For the last few months I’ve been on a mission to find a makeup setting spray which actually works, and doesn’t sting my skin as it’s packed with alcohol as I was really disappointed with the Urban Decay Setting Sprays. The Avon MagiX Prime and Set Spray is just £6 and contains 125ml which is such good value, especially as they have frequent offers on where you could purchase it even cheaper.
I’ve not read any reviews of the Avon MagiX Prime and Set Spray so I didn’t really know what to expect, but I have been so impressed. The Prime and Set Spray can be used to prep the skin, as well as being used to set your makeup in place which really appealed to me. To use the spray to prep the skin, you simply spritz the spray over clean, bare skin and it contains vitamins A, C and E to fully prepare your skin for makeup. Once it’s dried which takes a matter of seconds, you go ahead and apply your makeup and finish off by spritizing again to set your makeup.
The pump on the bottle isn’t the best in all honesty as it doesn’t dispense a fine mist, instead it’s quite concentrated so it does leave your skin feeling wet which I was worried about spraying over makeup incase it made my mascara and eyeliner smudge, but I haven’t noticed any smudging whatsoever. I did consider transferring the spray into another bottle but as it doesn’t smudge my makeup, the spray nozzle doesn’t bother me too much and I’ve actually been enjoying the cooling effect of the more concentrated spritz in this heatwave we’ve been experiencing lately.
When I first spritz the Avon MagiX Prime and Set Spray on my skin, it does have a very subtle alcohol scent but the scent disappears within a few seconds and it doesn’t sting my skin at all. When I use the spray over bare skin, it leaves my skin feeling very silky and smooth which I love as it feels like it’s actually helping my skin. As a makeup setting spray, it’s very effective and it does a great job at reducing any cakeiness of my powder, and my makeup looks so much nicer when I use this spray so it’s a very welcome addition to my makeup routine.
