Many of us are putting up our Christmas decorations this weekend, and I have to be honest, it’s not something I enjoy. I love how my home looks once the decorations are up, but the laborious task of taking them down always puts me off.
You don’t necessarily have to go the full hog, and go for a conventional Christmas tree. I’m going to share 3 easy ways you can give your home a festive makeover, minus the stress!
3 Easy Ways To Give Your Home a Festive Makeover
Christmas wreaths are all over social media right now. Festive wreaths used to be a primarily American tradition, but the UK appears to have caught on to the trend. I love seeing pretty Christmas wreaths on doors during December, and it’s such an easy way to inject a little Christmas into your home with zero fuss or hassle.
You can purchase ready-made wreaths online, or from any garden centre depending on whether you want a real or artificial wreath. If you don’t want to purchase a ready made wreath, or you just can’t find one you love, there’s lots of helpful tutorials online explaining how to create one.
Plus you can even purchase a DIY Christmas wreath kit too, should you fancy giving it a try. You can hang your wreath on the outside of your front door, or hang it on the interior of any door, and it takes seconds to hang one.
I personally don’t like over the top Christmas trees. I find them to look so busy and cluttered, and much prefer a more minimalistic theme. I actually really like the look of a Christmas tree without any decorations, and just lights. I guess it’s because it’s more traditional, and reminds me of the big trees you see in shopping centres.
Just because you’re having a Christmas tree, it doesn’t mean you need all of the tinsel, baubles and sparkle. It also obviously means it’ll be so much easier to put away the other side of Christmas which is definitely a bonus.
The last one is so simple, but effective, and is all about the soft furnishings. The quickest, and easiest way to inject some festivity into a room is by introducing some cute Christmas accessories.
I like to change up my cushion covers, throw on the sofa, and you could even have a festive doormat if you wanted to. It also helps to create a really cosy vibe, and you can make your room/s as Christmassy as you want. You could also introduce a cute light up star for your fireplace or coffee table, and they’re all things that take seconds to put up / change, and again, super easy to take down once Christmas is over with!
