I really love using face masks and I try to use at least one mask at least 2-3 times a week, especially in the winter months when my skin’s feeling particularly dry. I like how easy and convenient packet or tube masks are as they’re ready made and you can use them straight them away, but there are lots of DIY face mask recipes on Pinterest if you fancy trying to make your own face mask. Using packet face masks aren’t great for the environment either. I have super dry skin so a face mask which will help hydrate and smooth the skin is my mask of preference. Sometimes making your own face masks can be more affordable than buying ready made masks as the ingredients could be something you already own within your store cupboard. Read on for a recipe to create a DIY face mask for dry skin…
DIY Face Mask for Dry Skin
There are different recipes you can use depending on what skin concerns you’re looking to treat. This is just a basic DIY Face Mask for Dry Skin recipe, but you can customise it for your specific skin concerns.
- 3 Tablespoons of Porridge Oats
- 1 Tablespoon of Honey (use Manuka Honey if you want to treat blemishes)
- 1 Tablespoon of Milk
The directions couldn’t be easier. You simply mix the three ingredients together in a bowl until you have the right consistency you’re looking for. With the oats, you can buy pre-ground oats or use normal sized oats but can fall off your face unless your laying down whilst wearing your mask.
I prefer normal sized oats as they’re cheaper and I tend to lay down when wearing my masks but as long as the mixture is thick and sticky, it shouldn’t move around. If it’s not sticky enough, you could always add some water and extra honey to get a better consistency.
It is such a cheap mask to make as you only need a small amount of honey, oats and milk and I love the smell so much.
