January is always a bit of a depressing month after the fun and festivities of December. It’s also the longest month of the year, or it certainly feels like it is. If you’re on a tight budget this month, but still want to have some fun date nights over the next few weeks, I have five date ideas under £20.
Five Date Ideas Under £20
Dates don’t have to cost a fortune, and there are many things you can do for absolutely free such as visiting museums, going for a walk, plan a games night or a movie night in the comfort of your own home. I have five date ideas under £20, so if you’re on the look for some affordable date night ideas, please keep on reading.
Seaside
The seaside is one of my favourite places to visit, and it’s such an affordable day out too. You could head to your nearest seaside with your significant other, and buy a couple of bags of chips and some seaside doughnuts which would be under £10.
Then you can have a lot of fun in the amusement arcades with the 2p machines. You can have hours of fun with the 2p machines, and enjoy trying to win the tacky little prizes which lay on the top of the coins within the machines. It’s the kind of day out that never needs any planning, apart from petrol and warm clothes at this time of year, but it’s always been one of my favourite kinds of day out, so I had to include it within my affordable date ideas round-up.
Picnic
Picnics might sound like somewhat of a boring date idea, but I think they’re a great option when the weather is dry. You can buy cheap picnic blankets on eBay, and most come with plastic backing on one side, so you can lay it down on damp ground. For £20 you can choose lots of lovely delicious picnic worthy snacks and treats, and fill a flask with tea to keep you warm if the weather is a little cold.
Dessert Restaurant
My favourite of my five date ideas under £20 involves sweet treats, which is why it’s my favourite. There are lots of lovely dessert restaurants around these days, where they sell nothing but delicious desserts.
Restaurants like Kaspas sell a wide range of sundaes under £8, and you and your partner can have a dessert each and a drink, and it’d be under £20. Going for a multi-course meal at a restaurant is pricey, but if you go to just a dessert specific restaurant, it’s a lot kinder on the wallet, and who doesn’t love sweet treats?
Stargazing
Stargazing is my next idea. You don’t have to necessarily know a lot about the stars, and astronomy to be able to appreciate the night sky. If you drive out of the city to the countryside, you could lay on a picnic blanket and look up at the stars to fully appreciate how beautiful the stars are.
When you’re in the city, the stars aren’t as visible due to all the light pollution so the countryside is perfect and whilst it’ll obviously be cold during January, it’s something you can do all year round
Make a Pizza
The last of my five date ideas under £20 is one of my favourites to do with my partner, and it’s always a lot of fun. If you and your partner like pizza, making pizza is such a great thing to do together. You can create your own dough if you want to, or buy premade plain pizza bases.
Then once you’ve got the base, you can enjoy adding tomato sauce and cheese, followed by your favourite toppings. Handmade pizza is always more delicious than shop bought pizza, and you might even have some money left over to buy a bottle of wine to enjoy with your pizzas.
