Flooring Trends for 2020
It can be difficult to try and keep up with the trends when it comes to home improvements and decor, but if you’re looking to give your home a refresh, new flooring is a great way to change things up. There are so many different types of flooring, so I’m going to share some of the flooring trends for 2020, to give you an idea of what’s popular right now.
If you follow a lot of home accounts on Instagram, you’ll probably have seen a hell of a lot of terrazzo flooring. It’s a massive trend right now, and helps to give a room a more Mediterranean vibe. Terrazzo is a composite material with chips of marble, glass and stone (known as aggregates) set in either a cement or resin base. It looks so chic, and because of the different colours and textures, every floor looks unique and you can find terrazzo in many different colour combinations too.
Herringbone wooden flooring is very popular right now, and again it’s a type of flooring with many different colours to choose from. If you do opt for a herringbone effect flooring, flooring experts recommend fitting skirting boards in order to protect the walls and give the flooring a finish touch as it blends into the walls.
Mosaic flooring is another of the flooring trends for 2020, and it’s something that was once seen as being a little dated. I love seeing mosaic flooring as it’s so unique and with a plainer designed room, it can become the focal point for the whole room. I personally really like a monochrome mosaic design, but you can opt for super colourful mosaic designs, marble designs or even hexagon designed mosaic flooring.
There’s so many different flooring options available, and hopefully this round-up of flooring trends for 2020 gives you inspiration.
