Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon Lip Crayon Review + Swatches

Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon Lip Crayon

It feels like every single launch Maybelline do these days are all part of the Super Stay collection. The Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon Lip Crayon collection launched back in June of last year, and they were a lip crayon formula of their bestselling Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks – which are one of the longest wearing liquid lipsticks I’ve tried.

The Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon Lip Crayon collection are £9.99 each, but Maybelline are permanently on a 3 for 2 deal, or a buy one, get one free deal so you’ll be able to get them on offer as I feel like £10 is pricey for a lip crayon.

I like the packaging on these lipstick crayons, as they’re retractable, and they come with a little sharpener hidden within the base, allowing you to keep the nib as sharp and precise as possible, which is important with a formula as long lasting as this.

The Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon Lip Crayon is available in sixteen different shades. They launched with just twelve shades, but they recently added four new shades to the collection. I have the shade Seek Adventure 30, which isn’t a shade I would have chosen.

I ordered mine from Boots and chose the Trust Your Gut shade which is a really pretty nude, but Boots sent the wrong shade. It’s a really strange shade though. From the outer packaging it looks like a deep pink, and even the nib looks pink but it honestly looks like a straight up red both in this swatch and on the lips.

I can’t recall ever having a pink lip colour do this, but you’d be really disappointed if you bought the shade wanting a deep and intense pink, and instead you got a bright red.

The formula of this crayon is super creamy, and if anything, it’s too creamy especially in warmer weather as it just melts. I did these swatches back in May, and you can see the nib has crumbled into the swatch.

It’s extremely long lasting, and stains the lips so you have to get application absolutely perfect or you’re screwed as it’s a nightmare to remove, even with a cotton bud dipped in an oil-based makeup remover.

It could just be this shade, but I’m not enamoured by the formula or shade of the Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon Lip Crayon collection, and I much prefer long wearing lip crayons to be matte, and this one has more of a satin formula which I guess is why it moves around so much, which is the last thing you want with a bright red smearing all over your face.
